TLane

Hand made thimbles to order: domed tops, recessed tops, and many have an opening for the fingernail with a guard to prevent the needle from slipping.  Original designs may be sculpted in wax or fabricated from flat sheets of silver.  Production is by the lost wax method using the original model to make the mold to cast the thimble in Sterling silver or 18K gold.  TJ is in the fifth decade of making sewing jewelry, and offers hundreds of styles and sizes of thimbles.  She has made special limited editions for individuals and for thimble collecting groups since 1992.

Thimble Society

wedding thimble front1

'The Rose' Royal Wedding Thimble has been created by designer Jocelyn Burton exclusively for the Thimble Society in a limited edition of 300. Front view shows a crown with initials for Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton. It's in sterling silver with enamelled rose both as emblem of love and a Royal flower. The reverse is engraved with 'Royal Wedding, April 29th 2011. The silver version costs £140  = $224; the silver gilt version is £160 = $256.   Postage is $16. The 9ct gold version is also available. All thimbles are hallmarked dated '2011'. There is a charming story attached to the rose. In ancient Rome, a wild rose was left outside a chamber door when secrets were to be discussed, hence the expression 'sub rosa,' meaning 'secret matter.' To order the Rose thimble, please email or phone  011-44-7419-9562 or write to The Thimble Society 1 Cathcart St, London NW5 3BL , United Kingdom. Email: antiques@thimblesociety.com
